FIJI - ROTAHOMES URGENTLY NEEDS A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE
Rotahomes still relies on donations from Rotary clubs and members. An existing truck has travelled 800,000 km and has done its last kilometre. A second truck is still operational, but a backup is desperately needed to ensure that the Rotahome and Koroipita Town activities will continue without interruption. 006 (Lautoka)
FIJI – ANNUAL CATARACT AND EYE SURGERY, TAVEUNI
In the past 10 years over 2600 Fijians have had their sight restored which is life-changing for adults and children. The 2016 programme is scheduled for October. Surgeons are confirmed. This is a major project undertaken annually requiring on-going financial support from Rotary Clubs matched by a Global Grant. 408 (Taveuni)
TONGA – CHILDREN WITH ACUTE DISABILITIES
The needs of the disabled are very much neglected in Tonga. They receive no financial support. Many families with severely disabled family members live in deplorable conditions. Mango Tree Centre, which supports 1,000 disabled people, is building houses that give dignity to those that are bedridden, some 24 hours a day. The cost of the house is under NZ$7,000. 004 (Papanui)
TONGA – IMPROVING LIVELIHOODS, HEALTH and ENVIRONMENT
This activity will establish tree planting initiatives, increase communities' understanding of land and coastal protection and land/crop/livestock management through the raising of vegetable crops and protection of livestock such as poultry from predation and to prevent damage to crops, for example, by pigs. 313 (Nuku’alofa)
INDIA - IMPROVING EDUCATION, HEALTH and ENVIRONMENT
This activity will deliver water, sanitation, health and community mobilisation to address the poverty and health needs of 10,000 people in 30 slum and rural communities in and adjoining the industrial township of Baddi in Himachal Pradesh, India. 290 (Eastern Hutt)
TANZANIA - MWIKA DAIRY, MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN MILK PRODUCTION
Support the livelihoods of 250 subsistence farmers. The flow on from this Rotary activity together with the Rotary Market is bringing a community out of poverty, enabling better education and health for all through improved livelihoods and standard of living. Donate a cow, a biogas digester, a milk container or improve the operating dairy production. 305 (Multi Club)
BANGLADESH - ORPHANAGE PROJECT – BUY A BED
The dormitory fell into such disrepair. It had to be pulled down and urgently needs replacing. Please buy a bed for $400 and your Club or your family can name the bed. Bangladesh is the most populated part of the planet and one of the poorest. Your help will ensure 250 youngsters have somewhere safe to sleep. 008 (Whangarei)
